soul of fado

By Nuno Silva

Sensual contemporary dance, soul bearing Portuguese fado and a flaming gondola are the main ingredients in this fire and dance spectacular infused with the steamy atmosphere of Lisbon Old Quarter.

Known for his muscular physicality and fine singing, Nuno Silva is an individual artist with a career spanning contemporary dance (Henri Oguike, Luca Silvestrini and Javier de Frutos), classical opera (Mahogany Opera, Cork Opera) and West End musicals (Cabaret, The Light Princess).

lightfires puts the fire into this romantic tale, and also into the torment of the underworld. A large fireball comes from the top of a burning gondola which moves through the performance space. As with any of our dance collaborations the pyrotechnics are choreographed as part of the whole performance.

“They craved the fire that grows with passion, only to have it snatched away from them, like trying to catch smoke.”
