Heritage Flame Ceremony
In September 2016 lightfires built the Heritage Flame for the Paralympic Heritage Flame Ceremony. The ceremony featured disabled and non-disabled performers and some of our most famous paralympic heroes including Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson and Kelly Gallagher. The flame travelled to Brazil, and ultimately lit the cauldron in the Olympic stadium and opened the games.
The idea behind the ceremony - called the Seeds of Diversity - is the story of the first Games in 1948 and how they sowed the seeds of the paralympic movement around the world.
